playful dining

I meant to post this playful dining room on Monday but I had some technical difficulties and just resist a belated posting of it. Such an incredible mix of styles!

eye candy {morning retreat}

When I was fresh out of college my mornings were precious--I would get up early to watch the news, eat a full breakfast and have a moment of calm before a long day of work. Nowadays I am lucky if I even have enough time to turn on the coffee pot! I think that if I had this lovely sun porch in which to enjoy the morning light that perhaps I could get back to the morning routine of my early 20's.

I just love the tolix chairs mixed with the simple farmhouse style table and the large potted topiaries--all in all a perfect morning retreat.

clean slate {of curtains}

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time for a clean slate in every aspect of your life--a blank new calendar (which I just realized I don't have!), an revamp of your wardrobe or a fresh look in your home. And a fresh look in your home does not mean a major overhaul--it can be something simple like adding a crisp cream curtain along a wall to cover up an old wall color or simply to add texture, as in this home designed by Vincente Wolf. Even these little things make a world of difference.

I am also just crazy about the proportions of this light fixture to the dining room table and the way the mirror hangs against the pleats of the curtain.Home Design Ideas and Alternative

eye candy {dining perfection}

The dark herringbone wood floors, clean stripes of the chair fabric, an amazing chandelier are all framed perfectly by the eye-catching architectural elements of this space. Top it all off with a granite dining room table and it is the perfect formula for a luxurious and welcoming dining room.Home Design Ideas and Alternative

sunday {supper} setting

I love Sunday evenings and unwinding from the weekend by preparing a complex meal (think homemade pasta) for friends. As I am in the middle of the Rocky Mountains serving in fabulous and formal beach setting is incredibly appealing at the moment. Especially if it was under a seaglass tinged chandelier and served on a lovely mandarin greek key adorned table covering.

If I didn't love Italian cuisine (particularly anything with red sauce) so much I would most certainly have a cool white dining area. Here are just two reasons why...

tolix + topiaries

While I am on the subject, this space made me realize that there are two requirements that must be featured in my dream casual dining room--tolix chairs and tiny topiaries! And I also wouldn't mind a wall of charming cubbies filled with heavy glassware.

Do you have "must have" accessories for any room in your house. If so, what are they?

magnificent + multifunctional

I love open living/dining/kitchen areas. These spaces creates the perfect stage for the casual entertainer. I like many of my friends love being able to be working at the stove, be social with guests and keep an eye on empty wine glasses. I know that I would love to be hosting our next sushi night in this inviting space.

The color palette is welcoming, the accessories thoughtful and the attention to detail exquisite.

downright dreamy dining room

I have had rustic elegance on my mind, as I have been working on a event inspiration board that embraces this style (check back tomorrow morning!) and this dining room would be the perfect way to translate the look into your home. I am just crazy about the mix of the modern chairs with the casual bench and stunning floors--not to mention the perfect table setting and amazing natural light.

common thread: lovely light fixture

In looking for your interior design style it is said that you should start by collecting clippings of rooms that you love and then look back though all of them to find the common thread. Today I found that to be incredibly true when I saved away three lovely dining rooms and realized that that each of the, although quite different in overall style, featured a very similar Fortuny (i think!) light fixture.

And I also happen to love that each dining room features unique chairs--especially smitten with the blue and cream ones. Do you have common theme that you find in the clippings you save?

jade and coral [and perhaps a dash of yellow]

I almost always find that I am drawn to the rooms that utilize at least three colors, even if they are all neutrals. Take coral, which seems to be everywhere lately. A coral room dotted with few different patterns and materials and perhaps a neutral here and there can be lovely. But add a cooling jade or teal to the mix and the warmth of a space drastically increases.

Add yet another layer of color to this palette, such a brilliant yellow, and spaces grow even more inviting.

[casual] dining + a guest post

I have to say that I always preferred formal dining areas for dinner parties to casual ones but at the moment I am just craving a more casual spot to host a simple midweek dinner. I don't really have the space for one right now but these are some dining rooms that I am storing away for future inspiration...

clean+crisp

There is really nothing quite like bright, crisp and clean lined interiors. They are truly a breath of fresh air--which is exactly how I felt when I came across this lovely kitchen and dining area.

daffodil dining

I absolutely love how bright and cheery this dining area is (and features one of my new favorite decor details-a birdcage). I don't think I could do anything other than smile if I had this room in my home. The absolute perfect spot to start a day!

new heights

I love high ceilings and the airy spaces they create. However, it can also make a room difficult to decorate and can easily feel pretty bare. I think this space takes advantage of the feature well thanks to the spiral staircase, plethora of pictures on the back wall and art pieces up to the ceiling. It definitely helps to have the enormous window too!

a warm breeze

As the cold weather continues to stay in Jackson Hole, I have been left longing a little warmth! Which I was lucky enough to find in the work of California based designer, Erin Martin. She does an amazing job at creating simple, bright and overall beautiful spaces.

This is one of my favorite images of her work--I think those seat cushions with the orange trim and the numbers are just brilliant. As is the combination of the very informal table with more formal chairs. Oh, and to have an arrangement of orange tree branches--simply divine.

before+after {holiday decor}

After a long hot shower and glass of wine (cures everything!) I am feeling much better and couldn't help but post about this dining room. I saw the holiday styled version of this room in Western Interiors and found the unset table in Peter Dunham's portfolio. I just thought it was so fun to see how holiday decor can transform a room. I have to say I really like the cokes at each place setting--such a fun contrast to the formal room. The coca-cola polar bear has always been a symbol of Christmas, why not the actual drink!

Pull up a Bench

I have completely fallen in love with the idea of using benches at a dining room table. They just evoke a feeling of warmth and family style dining. They are appropriate for casual, formal, modern and even traditional rooms.
