black + blue {office} luxury

I have had quite the fascination with black spaces lately, which has taken me quite by surprise. I am drawn to the elegance and impact of black and the lovely backdrop it creates for color. This home office designed by Amy Morris for the Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles showhouse is one of my favorite examples of how lovely it can be. The mixture of the black with navy blue adds a lovely element of depth and the gold touches lighten up the overall feel of the room.

And the faded rug softens the black walls beautifully.

The geometry of the shelf is just divine (I have to have it) and the studding of the sofa is just such a wonderful detail.

Ahhh, just a beautifully designed space and in an office none the less!

for the love of olive branches

I am a picky eater and although I have grown to like many things olives are one of the many things that I just will not eat. The last time I tried they were rolled in cheese and nuts so I thought maybe I could handle them but alas I apparently I consumed them with a very rude look of disgust. However, olive branches I adore and not to eat but as a home accents. Their color and organic structure make any room just a bit more welcoming and can soften a room of clean lines.

clean+simple

For better or worse I have always found joy in a bit of clutter--something very cozy and homey about it. However the order, simplicity and clean lines of this home make me want to store away all my knick knacks.

pretty in polka dots

I think one of the most baffling style statements that I have heard was that someone didn't like polka dots! In my mind that in just unfathomable--it is one of my all time favorite patterns. Every single time I seem them all I can think of is Julia Roberts stomping divots in Pretty Woman. It is a pattern in my mind that could never go out of style and one I am so happy to see this season.

simply pretty {neither snow}

I was just working on a valentine's inspired event board and pursuing some of my favorite inspirational blogs when I came across the stunning calligraphy of neither snow over at 100 layer cake. As I have very childish penmanship I stop in complete awe at stylishly inked paper like theirs. Not to mention the fact that I am always a sucker for well styled photos.




And isn't the combination of fonts lovely?

perfect [holiday] eat-in kitchen

This space from Skona Hem combines two of my favorite things--simple holiday tablescapes and eat-in kitchens. And then of course there is the beautiful molding, touch of fresh greens, unique room shape, and clean but not overly modern lines.


OK, time to pull my away from the computer and finally work on making my holiday cards!
P.S. The rest of this house is amazing too!

simple is sometimes best

I always keep ribbons from packages and love finding new ways to use them. Which is just one reason that I love the idea of tying them in a bow and letting them hang from chandeliers for the holidays. The other reason is that simple decor truly is sometimes best!

evening eye candy {simple holiday decor}

So I feel the need to warn you that this month delight by design will be dominated by holiday decor, gift guides and my own personal wish lists! I will do my best to try to insert some of my normal series but I have pretty much been saving up posts for this seasons ever since it ended last year! And I think that these images are at the top of my list--so simple and understated but yet still very festive. A few ornaments stacked in an empty fireplace or really empty alcove or corner...

Recycling the pages of books for adorable trees and garlands (I have to find a DIY for this one!)..

And since I am not going to be in my house for Christmas I am always looking for tree options that don't shed and think this one if perfectly darling..

And lastly I love this cute option for holiday table placecards...and you could even put little treats or a favor inside the bag.

Rifle Paper Co.

I have been patiently (well, maybe not patiently--I check multiple times a day) for the online shop of the incredibly talented Anna Bond to open. And today is the day! After all that anticipation I was not let down. The shop is filled with her signature whimsical, colorful and simply stunning work that never fails to bring a smile to my face. Just a small little sampling...

I think the little dog cards are my favorite--would be such an excellent gift for a dog lover!

simple is best {for today}

Work is still insanely busy and my to do list seems to be growing and growing (much faster than I can check items off.) So, I am very much looking forward to a quiet evening of relaxation and some time away from my dreaded list. I think that coming home to this clean and simple kitchen would definitely be the perfect start to such an evening.

I just love the whitewashed floors, simple open shelving and the farmhouse sink!

Not to mention the overwhelming charm and delightful lack of clutter.

pastel pops [from kage handbags]

stylist spotlight [louisa grey]

After admiring the portfolio of stylist, lousia grey, I am left just in awe of her talent. She is incredibly versatile in her talents. She can flawlessly style the most luxurious and also the most rustic of spaces. The one common thread is that each and every space she touches is pure eye candy!

burnt orange+ sky blue

Do you ever find yourself loving unexpected color combinations? Yesterday I was trying to help a coworker brainstorm color combos for her new baby's room and out of nowhere I found myself suggesting burnt orange and sky blue. Not quite sure where it came from but after some thought I really do think these complementary colors create a lovely look!
