perfectly mismatched

Mismatching frames making up a collection of art or photographs on a wall has been a trend for some time now. I love when this look is taken to the extreme for an eclectic look but for my own home I prefer just slightly mismatched frames with a common theme in either the subject in or the style of the frame, just like these....

As an aside, how beautiful are the worn fabrics of this rug?

clean slate {of curtains}

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time for a clean slate in every aspect of your life--a blank new calendar (which I just realized I don't have!), an revamp of your wardrobe or a fresh look in your home. And a fresh look in your home does not mean a major overhaul--it can be something simple like adding a crisp cream curtain along a wall to cover up an old wall color or simply to add texture, as in this home designed by Vincente Wolf. Even these little things make a world of difference.

I am also just crazy about the proportions of this light fixture to the dining room table and the way the mirror hangs against the pleats of the curtain.

eye candy {wall of keys}

There are so many lovely things about this vignette--the beautiful double mirrors and the lovely accessories but what I just adore is the wall of vintage keys! Such a wonderful and unique idea that is sure to add an eclectic charm to any space.

Busy day today, but they all seem that way lately! This lovely lily of the valley wallpaper provided my eyes the perfect respite in the midst of the craziness. I also love the styling of the flowers in front of the paper.

London Calling: Get out the Crayons

For the past few weeks I have been dying to go to London! Now, I have never been to Europe for good reason--being in a plane for more than a couple of hours (at all really) is horrifying to me! So, in order to avoid an anxiety attack, at least for now, I am going to take a my blog to international for a few posts and see how it goes. Today is about an very cool London based company called Mini Moderns--created in 2004 out of the need for more inspiring and modern children's decor. Their line of products became even more amazing when they recently introduced "colour me" wallpapers. Yes, they it is actually wallpaper and a coloring book in one! The two patterns they currently produce:

So embrace your inner child and get out your pencils, felt tip markers or crayons and start doodling!

Ski Town Style

Ok, so vintage jewelry is "in" why not vintage ski posters? It may be a little touristy but I really have a soft spot for them. I just love the nostalgic feelings they evoke. I think at least one of these will make my Christmas list -- I think I like the cigar smoking polar bear best!

No they are not actually flavored wallpapers, by they do have some spicy patterns. They just came out with 10 new wallpaper designs, I especially like these two designed by Tibi.

Lighten Up Your Nest

As many Americans have, I have been habitually watching CNN, reading the New York Times and constantly checking the DOW on my i-phone. It easily gets me feeling anxious but it also makes me realize how important it is be comfortable and happy in your home. Right now all I want to do is wallpaper our apartment with bright colored polka dots--so I went online and looked for fun new and HAPPY wallpaper. I then realized that I am renter and don't have such liberties but I can use these wallstickers from Ferm Living:



I think these will make anyone quite happy indeed! I think the coat rack is brilliant. Stay tuned for more uplifting decorating ideas later this week.
