swoonworthy {studio choo}

I was working on an event inspiration board when I stumbled across the work of Studio Choo-a duo of two very creative gals in Pacifica, California. Their floral designs are full of texture, creativity and whimsy. Purusing their flickr photostream was a wonderful little escape in my very hectic day. unwinding with pretty pottings

Work has been very crazy this week and unfortunately I don't think there is any end in sight but I have found a new way to unwind--gardening! I have just started to become interested in potting (4 pots in the last week!) and would love a specified place in my home to cultivate my green thumb. I am thinking perhaps a lovely potting bench...

Or maybe even a potting shed and that way if my interest wains that I could convert it into a lovely guest house...

Or even casual dining quarters...hmm.

Jackson Hole Flower Co.

Thank you for all your Birthday wishes! I had a wonderful Birthday--I took the day off from work and went on my favorite hike up in the park, tried to soak up the few minutes of sun and discovered the most lovely new shop here in Jackson. They have some stunning single stems...

simply sunday tables

I love Sunday dinner parties-they just have such a lovely casual and relaxed feel and I feel as though the tablescape should reflect that. These are some of my favorite elegant but casual tabletops, all perfect for a Sunday dinner with friends.

pretty in poppy

As much as I love colors I have never really loved red. I was always told that as I blonde it is a good color on me but I quite disagree. It is just so bold and overpowering but I do love it when toned down with a pit of pink to create more of a poppy color, just like the lovely color on the bottom of Louboutins! I think when paired with yellow or a hint of green it is perfect for a summer affair.

all in the details [whimsy of yellow]

I have decided to start a new weekly series called "all in the details". My hope is to document a motif, a color a pattern, a style--well, anything really. All in the hopes that it will spur ideas for a room, a table setting, a dish or for a wardrobe. Plus my new favorite thing to do has been creating inspiration boards! So, I thought I would start simple by focusing on yellow, specifically its very whimsical quality:

simple sunday study [peonies]

I have well documented my love of peonies in previous posts and hope you don't mind me bringing them up again. They are all that I can think of to keep from getting down from the snow that continues to fall and is not expected to let up soon! So I was overjoyed when I found these photos in the amazing portfolio of Jennifer Altman (author of nectar & light). The lighting in these photos capture so well the softness and beauty of this delicate bloom.

wednesday inspiration [lynsey fryers]

I don't know about you but I am definitely in the need of some mid week inspiration. And I found it ( lots of it!) in the portfolio of stylist Lynsey Fryers. Starting with one very cool idea for an inspiration board.

I just love the visual effect of posting fabric swatches and inspiring images over a pattern on the wall. Almost looks like the inspiration grew from the leaves. The colors in this photo also just inspired my next installment of cheap(er) chic! Her portfolio also contains some beautiful florals:

happy first weekend of spring!

Oh, I am so happy at the moment-I only have a half day of work today (although it has been a very busy one) and there is not a cloud in the sky! I am very much looking forward to enjoying some much needed sun and fresh air therapy this afternoon. Perhaps, I will have to get my cruiser bike out of storage and take her for a spin to pick up some daffodils. I hope you all have fun weekend plans! I will be participating in the very non spring activity of skiing.

preparing for spring..

Although spring is not quite here (technically starts two weeks from today) I think I am going to force it to come early--quite literally. I sadly haven't planted any bulbs in my yard and to me spring is just not the same without them. So, this weekend I will be attempting to "force" some bulbs--thinking about hyacinth, as they have the loveliest aroma and possibly tulips. That way when spring does come I will have some fresh cut flowers to tote around in the basket of my bike...

It is my feeling that Sundays are the day of the week to enjoy the simple things--from a leisurely walk with the dogs, a slow cooked meal, lingering lunch with friends to a lazy morning coffee. While I was working on a project for a friend (more on that later) I came across the photos of victoria pearson. Her work shows perfectly the the beauty of simplicity.

perfect blooms

I just received the most beautiful floral arrangement as an early valentine from my dad. It is the perfect size, in the perfect container and made from the perfect flowers. It so nice to see tulips on a cold day like today. I just has to share them with you!



They are from local florist, Lily&Co/Bloom.

for the love of peonies

Waking up to -3 degree temperatures leaves me craving fresh cut aromatic summer flowers and there are none I love more than peonies. So when I was looking through the portfolio of Mark Lund I was delighted to find this lovely flower making appearances in the spaces he photographed.





Oh, I can almost ALMOST smell then now.
