walteria living
Do you like this story?
walteria living is california based design studio producing works designed by artist, kathleen walsh. the term walteria living comes from walteria, "a small sub-division of los angeles, created in the 1950's to act as a buffer between an affluent hilltop community and the burgeoning sprawl of lower-middle-class communities populating the suburban landscape. walteria living is an analogy for the boundary between high + low culture and the tension created between both." while i'm not sure if i see that expressed in the work per se, the collection is a beautiful series of cast-ceramic pieces like oil candles and simple chandeliers. you can check out the entire collection right here. enjoy!
