Do you like this story?

thanks to maria at vosges for passing this along to me....herman yu is a seattle based designer who makes beautiful paper goods that evoke the beautiful colors and organic lines found in nature.
after earning her degree in textile design from risd, herman began her career in new york, working under legendary textile designer jack lenor larson. after her time with lenor larson, herman moved on to calvin klein where she designed all of the textiles and accesories for the home collection.
now herman is pursuing her own design goals with herman yu design. she aims to produce "good design", finding her inspiration in places like farmer's markets, shadows, branches and rocks. her collection reflects this commitment to nature and really makes for a subtle, beautiful body of work.
herman's calendars are a lovely alternative to some of less sophisticated wall calendars out there. full of simple, colorful designs, her calendars evoke nature in its many seasons. i'm most fond of may and june- i love the yellow/green colors she uses.
in addition to calendars, herman makes beautiful tall and regular classic cut cards. the cards echo the calendars' sense of organic form and bright, beautiful color. they are available in singles or boxes of six or eight.
you can find herman's cards at a variety of stores in the us (sorry, no intl sales yet) and online. please check out her website for more information.
