oh, surface

uggh. aric chen has my dream job. he and his cohorts at surface have totally scooped my dream stories. but then again, they're big time magazine writers and i'm well, a little bitty blog. but, i'm still pleased as a peach that i had dreamed about writing these articles awhile ago. why oh why can't someone scoop me up and tell me "hey! wanna edit a "new and notable" section?" ah, to dream.

anyway...this month's surface is chock full of design goodies. they cover another of my favorite brother duos (what is it with brothers who design?), the moorheads of brooklyn (yeah local designers!). these guys are sooo hard to track down in terms of a website and information, but i was lucky enough to see their work at this past summer's living spaces show. they are a dreamy dreamy design duo. i fell for their felt first- they make these darling little folded felt stools and even cuter recyled polyester fiber boxes (they look like felt at least...). these boys are on the rise (while they're not busy teaching at parsons) and i'm so glad surface snatched em up...just wish i could have. argh!

ok, i'll stop being a baby now and congratulate design gossip darling aric chen on his piece covering brooklyn design mecca the future perfect. it's no secret i love tfp, despite its sometimes chilly (ok, most of the time chilly) retail staff, and i'm thrilled that they're getting the national coverage they deserve. still wish i'd written it...oh well, yeah more local talent!! (even gourmet dishware queen lorena barrezueta was in the picture! as was jason miller, porcelain cupcake artist extraordinaire)

surface also managed to scoop up some gorgeous pictures of the bathhouse spa in las vegas that i've been so dying to cover. but i can't find any darn pictures to download! boo! but at least surface and architecture covered it. it's a breathtakingly chic interior that i highly suggest you check out. mmmm..spas.

i almost forgot-- they snatched up flavor paper too! i fell in love with their insanely cool retro psych wallpaper at icff this year. so go check em out!
