Melanie Benecki - Sneak Preview of 2011 Decorator's Show House and Gardens - Atlanta

Melanie Turner is at it AGAIN.  The extremely talented designer is using Home Design Ideas and Alternative furnishings in the Dining Room at the upcoming 41st Annual Decorator's Show House and Gardens in association with the Atlanta Symphony Associates.  The show house opens April 16, 2011.

With a background in commercial and residential interiors and construction, Melanie works closely with clients to design homes that reflect the owner’s style and personality and provide a sophisticated, yet unassuming, refuge. Maintaining an emphasis on simplicity and understated glamour, her interiors feature a blend of clean lines, found objects, fine antiques, and custom-designed, sculptural furniture.  Between 2009 and 2010 Melanie won Southeastern Designer of the Year, made the cover of Veranda magazine’s September issue, won the ASID Best Residential Award and the Architectural Digest Kitchen of the Year Award, all while giving back through show homes for charities like Children’s HealthCare of Atlanta and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.  She has been featured in Veranda, Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles, Jezebel, and The Atlantan. The Bernard Console

One of Home Design Ideas and Alternative best-selling pieces is the Bernard Console.  It's been used as a entry-way console, nightstand, sideboard, buffet, and a media stand in personal residences, retail settings, and showhouses.

It's extremely versatile and can be made to ANY size!  We've finished it in everything from Candy-apple red to pearlized creme.

Back in Black

Amy D. Morris used black painted walls at a recent Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles Winter Showhouse which "allowed the finish of the chandelier to pop the most, and allowed for a large range of color choices  I didn't want the room to be ordinary.  We played with many colors against the black, and the bold selections of chartreuse, teal and burnt orange gave me the element of suprise that I was looking for."

Design talents Beth Webb and Nancy Pendergrast teamed up to create this guest suite, which Webb describes as a clean, cristp and fresh retreat that's completely welcoming.  "I love the color of the walls and how warm it makes the room feel," says Pendergrast.  "The slight sheen to the chocolate makes the space more modern and glam, and stark contrast between the dark brown and the warm white makes the room so dramatic, too."  But, she adds, the draw here is more than merely aesthetic; it's emotional too.  "The dark chocolate wraps itself around you like a fabulous mink coat!"

SPOTTED: in the Rosewood Mansions Showhouse - Atlanta

OPULENCE REIGNS reigns This study by Hutton Wilkinson for Tony Duquette, created in concert with Atlantan Stephen Boyd, is marked by maximum comforts, due in large part to an ample mix of furnishings covered in the former’s latest fabrics for Jim Thompson. In fact, the room was enveloped in these textiles with abandon: upholstered walls, sumptuous curtain panels, folding screens and more displaying a range of colors and motifs. “Duquetterie,” the elegant fabric used for the folding screens, was inspired by the design of a chest Duquette designed for Elsie de Wolfe in 1941, and this showhouse marks its first appearance in the U.S. The duo took several opportunities to display Wilkinson’s Tony Duquette licensed pieces for Baker Furniture, as well: shallow niches flanking the fireplace were punctuated by Regency Pagoda Lamps on pedestals, and Sunburst Torcheres on bases flank the terrace wall, giving the room a curated effect. Meanwhile, Wilkinson’s California Sunburst Pendant for Remains Lighting shines from above.
