Hydrangea arborenses' incrediball '

I picked up a list of the 2010 Woody plants that Gethsemane's tree and shrub division has ordered . I'm just showing a few that caught my eye.

This Hydrangea arborescens 'incrediball ' is a Proven Winners selection bred for Spring Meadow Nursery by Tim the Plant Hunter . Not only are the flowers four times larger than Annabelle, the stems have been "beefed up " to support the heavy heads. " Annabelle on steriods ! " as one description goes. This incredible hydrangea is hardy to zones 3 and 4 and at 4-5 feet is ideal for small gardens.

I'm a huge hydrangea fan and just gotta have this one. Sorry Annabelle.

Hibiscus syriacus 'lil' kim '

Another Proven Winners that Tim the Plant Hunter discovered on his plant quest to Korea. Lil' Kim was developed by noted Korean plantsman Dr. Shim and is the only truly dwarf hibiscus . It's blossoms last for 3 days instead of one. It was named as one of the 9 "hot shrubs" 2 years ago. It has a long bloom period, is heat tolerate, and low maintenance. It also attracts hummingbirds , bees and butterflies.

Cercis canadensis 'floating clouds '

A variegated 'Redbud '. Flower color is the same but the leaves add another dimension of seasonal interest. Unlike other varieties of the speciess this one can take a lot more sun.

Syringa Penda 'bloomerang'

Yet another amazing discovery of Tim the Plant Hunter is this re-blooming lilac. This was one that our tree and shrub department's buyer ordered because of popular demand. It has a great fragrance, is a heavy Spring bloomer and after a rest re-bloom in mid-Summer.
