carrot & stick press
Do you like this story?

these guys make GORGEOUS cards. i mean gorgeous. i would frame every single one of these. especially the one above, which is the most fabulous yellow color (could yellow be any hotter right now??). based in oakland, california (doesn't it seem like all of the great letterpress people are there?), carrot & stick press is run by susie gelbron and julie walker. susie, the "carrot", studied art history and photography at princeton. julie, the "stick", graduated from the college of creative Studies at uc santa barbara. she has worked as a letterpress instructor at the san francisco center for the book for the past five years. "carrot" and "stick" met in graduate school at the california college of arts and crafts where they both earned masters degrees in fine arts. they founded carrot & stick press in 2000.
carrot & stick make lovely pre-printed cards and stationery, but they also do adorable custom work too. i fell in love with their hand-drawn maps- there's seriously nothing cuter. i love the one with the golden gate bridge surrounded by clouds. too fantastic. if i ever get married i'm totally calling these guys. although i bet my super cool friend missy could do something equally awesome (hi, missy!). anyway, check out carrot & stick and see what all the fuss is about. [you can buy their cards online, right here]
