lekker home
Do you like this story?

oh thank goodness for whoever commented about lekker home- too good to pass up. how have i not already posted about this. thanks so much to the post-er who mentioned them!
boston-based lekker home is run by husband and wife team, natalie van dijk carpenter and curt carpenter. living and working in the south end of boston (is this the same area that marky mark refers to as "southie"? anyone? anyone?), curt and natalie believed their neighborhood had become a "centrifuge of creativity and artistic expression"- therefore the perfect location for lekker home. while i've never been there, i've seen what they have to offer online and if that's anything to show for it, the south end seems to be home to some wonderfully creative people (well, these two at least).
lekker is home to a bazillion great designs, and among those, the tableware seems to be my favorite. i love the porcelain spoons from amsterdam (see first picture)- they're big, simple and look great in that picture with the colorful candy.
lekker also carries some gorgeous glass pieces, like great little bedside glasses, glass storage jars and barware. i'm rather enamored of the moya stemware and otto collection- they would look modern and elegant in anyone's home.
if you're lucky enough to have a fireplace in your home, check out the ultra-modern clear fire screen (would that start to look black after awhile?) from germany. not sure how functional it is, but it sure looks cool.
lekker has so much to offer that it's most definitely worth some of your downtime to click around and see what they have. they offer downloadable cataloges of some of their designers, as well as well organized sections according to type of product- and a decent sale section, too! so cruise on by lekker home and see if you can find some fun friday goods. have a great weekend everyone!
ooh! don't miss the cool double wall bowl collection that keeps food/water hot or cold for a long period of time. while expensive i'd love to get one for our cats water. i feel bad thinking that they might have to drink warmish water during the day. ick.
