oui oui!
Do you like this story?

in another life i think i was a tragically wispy french girl. you know, the kind with a perfect amelie coif and an innate sense of style. somehow that didn't quite translate into this life, but i think it explains my inner longing to be transported to a quaint cottage in provence (there's an asparagus festival there right now, mmm).
but, in the meantime, i'll just try to convert one room of my house into a french cottage. i'm thinking it might be the kitchen, but i'm not sure how far ac will let me go with the girly french thing. either way, i think i'm going to beg to be showered in french girl home accessories for my birthday in june. hence, let me introduce basic french: a lifestyle thing- a wonderfully cute french home store in good old red hook new york (i went to a hippy festival there once, it was a nightmare- but a beautiful location).
basic french is a haven for french enthusiasts- they have gorgeous french linens, clothing, cookware, toys, etc etc. it's wonderful. i highly suggest the french laundry detergents (much more chic than gain) and the adorable love labels. i'd love to sew them on all of my parents' things and ac's. i think they'd kill me though. basic french has so much to offer, so please, cruise on by the site, and if you're up for a weekend trip, check out their store in red hook. au revoir!
